Eitan Eldar: “Lower league football teams – decimated by coronavirus”

The spread of the coronavirus, which started in december 2019, eventually led to a lockdown that is still in action today, and brought sporting events to a complete halt

Eitan Eldar, an experienced sports investor, says that the lockdown put lower league football teams at a high risk. “The teams stopped playing and have absolutely no revenue stream”, says Eldar. “This might hurt premier league teams, but for lower league teams, this might be critical hit”.

According to reports, there is a possibility that supporters might not be able to attend games until 2021, and for some teams who need the stream of funds in order to pay rent, wages, ect., this could be a barrier they can’t overcome.

“The clubs in the lower leagues don’t have finances to spare”, said Eitan Eldar. “Those teams run on a week to week basis, and to completely cut off revenue until next year will decimate them”.
